RANDOLPH COUNTY'S DOUGHBOYS IN WORLD WAR I
Photos and information with each picture came from family members and a from a publication housed at both the Randolph County Historical Museum and the Annie L. Awbrey Public Library. The book is entitled Service Record for Randolph County WWI and WWII (produced by V.F.W. Post No. 6571, Wedowee, AL.) You can go through the photos in a digital slide show by clicking the upper left portion of the large photo. Photos will change every 10 seconds. If you prefer, you can go through the photos manually by clicking on the upper right portion of the large photo in the center and proceed at your own pace. Each photo has a short description of the person's service. Please be sure to scroll down far enough to read them.
Photo above: Ephemera from B.C. Poor's experiences in the war. The patches, buttons, and the souvenirs tell the story of his experiences even though he is no longer here. The uniform that serves as the photo's backdrop is that of Dr. John Radney Manley. Both were Randolph County servicemen and examples of the proud tradition of local citizens serving their country to noblely defend freedom and democracy.
